Finding Trust in Father Time

But as for me, I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.” — Micah 7:7

“It might take a year, it might take a day, but what’s meant to be will always find its way.” — unknown

“Timing is everything. When you’re really ready for it, it will come” — Mandy Hale

We like to think we control our timing — we controlled the time our alarm went off, we decide what time works for lunch, we look at our watch to decide when we want to leave… But when it really comes down to it, we recognize that we have very little control.

The thought has been hitting me quite often; I’m just 3 months into a real world job, and I have to face the fact that I don’t know where it’s taking me. For the first time, I don’t graduate in 4 years or even start a new term in 10 weeks. I don’t choose between two classes that could lead to two distinct and clear paths, but instead I go forward into a very ominous, overgrown forest of sorts.

This leads to a feeling of anticipation/eagerness that often leaves me unsettled. How long do I wait before I try something else? How soon will my next big step be? When do I go and where will it be??

If we go back to the first bible verse — if we wait on the Lord and trust that He hears us — we remember that He is in control. He is taking the right amount of time to mold us and push us and make us ready. He is taking over.. as long as we let Him.

Trust in His timing.
