Making Decisions

“Commit your ways to the Lord. Trust in Him and He will act” — Psalm 35:5

“God’s plan for your life far exceeds the circumstances of your day” — Louie Giglio

“Until God opens the next door, praise Him in the hallway” — Unknown

Decisions gnaw at me like nothing else—sometimes I debate a choice so much that I can’t function. I have to lock myself in my room until a decision is made. I feel that I drive those around me mad with this nauseating back and forth.

So where is this stress coming from? Why do we feel anxious when we are debating whether or not to spend that money here or there, what to say when, how much to study versus play, whether or not to go or stay.

It’s because we forget to trust. We forget that there’s a much bigger picture, someone that has taken over all that back and forth and who knows the way forward. What if we praised Him through our decisions (“in the hallway”) and felt glee instead of anxiety through the process?

The next choice you make today (big or small), think about how ultimately, it’s His say that matters over your own. That makes me want to dance in the hallway while I wait for Him to guide me through the right door.
