You Were Made by God

“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.”—Psalm 139:14

“You were made by God and for God and until you understand that, life will never make sense”—Rick Warren

“When you find peace within yourself, you become the kind of person who can live at peace with others.”—Peace Pilgrim

Last night when talking with a friend about her recent troubles, I caught myself feeling anxious about how I should respond to her needs. What do I say that will provide comfort? Do I hug her when she cries or let her be? How would her other friends treat this situation more effectively than I am now?

And then an overwhelming feeling of peace came over me… This rush came with the thought: what if I accepted myself for what I have to give and didn’t try to be the best of everyone else. As she confided in me, I kept processing this feeling.

Throughout the conversation I realized just what all the Sunday School teachers and Youth Pastors had preached all through my adolescence: You were made by a God who loves you.

So if we were made by the Creator—fearfully and wonderfully and carefully and thoughtfully—why would we question our actions so much? If we are accepted by Him and keep Him at the forefront of our actions, we don’t have to question if we are enough.

Let that thought fill you with inner peace today.
